Create a new wallet

Creating a wallet takes about two minutes. The most important part is writing down your recovery phrase: 12 words that are the master key to your wallet.

Before you start

  • Have pen and paper ready.
  • Find a private place. Nobody should see your screen while the phrase is shown.
  • Don't take a screenshot, copy it into notes, email it or save it to the cloud.

Step by step

1. Tap "Create a new wallet"

On the welcome screen, tap Create a new wallet, then pick Basic or Pro mode.

BESC Wallet opens Create Recovery Wallet: a seed-backed, self-custody wallet. You'll see your recovery phrase once, verify it, then set how the app unlocks.

2. Choose a network and name

Choose the wallet network (BESC Hyperchain is preselected) and give the wallet a label, for example Primary Wallet. Then tap Create Wallet.

One phrase, every network

The network you pick here is just where you start. Once your phrase is verified, BESC Wallet sets up the same phrase's wallet on every network, under the same name. See After setup: every network.

3. Read the warning

Step 1 of 3 is a short, important warning:

  • If you lose this phrase, BESC Wallet cannot recover the wallet, reset ownership or restore your funds.
  • Anyone who sees the phrase can take control of the wallet.
  • Store it offline. Never save it in screenshots or cloud notes.

Tap I Understand.

4. Write the words down in order

Step 2 of 3 shows your 12 words, numbered. Write each word down in order, check the spelling, then tap I Wrote It Down.

5. Verify your backup

Step 3 of 3 checks that your copy is correct. The words appear as tiles: press and hold a word, then drag it into the order you wrote down. When the order matches, tap Finish Setup.

If you leave before verifying

The wallet is only kept once you've verified the phrase. If you cancel during setup, BESC Wallet removes the unfinished wallet ("Wallet setup canceled before recovery phrase verification completed.") so you never end up with a wallet you can't recover.

6. Your wallet is set up on every network

Right after verification, BESC Wallet derives the same phrase's wallet for every network family: EVM (BESC Hyperchain, Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Avalanche), Solana, Bitcoin, Tron, Cosmos Hub, Sui, Aptos and XRP Ledger. You'll see Setting up Solana… 1 of 7 and so on while it works. Everything is derived and stored on your phone.

7. Protect the app

Finally, Protect Your New Wallet asks how the app should unlock when you come back:

  • App passcode: a 6-digit code for this device.
  • Biometric unlock: Face ID or fingerprint.
  • Both: either one unlocks the app.
  • Set Up Later: you can turn these on any time in Settings.

See Lock the app for details.

After setup: every network

When setup finishes you'll see Wallet created on every network from one recovery phrase. Your one recovery phrase now backs up all of them: restoring it later brings back every network.

  • Switch networks with the network button on Home; the same wallet name appears on each.
  • If a network couldn't be set up, the others still work. Switch to that network and tap Add [network] From Recovery Phrase to add it in one tap. See Add a network from your recovery phrase.

Wallets without a recovery phrase

In Wallet Tools → Add → Create new you can also make a Key-Only Wallet. It has a private key but no recovery phrase. Only choose this if you'll back up the private key yourself (see Back up, export, remove). A recovery wallet is recommended for almost everyone.

Next steps

BESC Wallet is self-custody software. You alone control your keys and recovery phrase.
