Security tab and approvals

The Security tab on Home helps you spot risk in the wallet you're viewing: who's allowed to spend your tokens, and whether the networks are healthy.

Token approvals

When you use a decentralised exchange or app, you usually approve it to spend a token on your behalf. Many apps ask for an unlimited approval. That's convenient, but if the app is ever compromised, it can take that token from your wallet, even long after you stopped using it.

The Security tab shows:

  • Tracked token balances: tokens being watched for approvals.
  • Unlimited approvals: how many spenders can take an unlimited amount.
  • Token Approvals: each spending permission: the token, the spender (app or contract) and the allowance.

BESC Wallet finds approvals from your history and by reading approval events directly from the blockchain for the active EVM network.

Revoke an approval

  1. Find the approval in Token Approvals.
  2. Tap Revoke approval.
  3. Review Revoke Token Approval: this sends a real transaction that sets the spender's allowance back to zero. A normal network fee applies.
  4. Confirm. When it's mined you'll see Approval revoked.

When to revoke

Revoke approvals for apps you no longer use, anything you don't recognise, and any unlimited approval you don't need. You can always approve again next time you use the app.

Notes:

  • Revoking works on EVM networks.
  • It needs a wallet you control. Watch-only wallets can't sign a revoke.

Refresh

Tap Refresh Security to re-check approvals now.

Network health

Network Health shows the status of your main networks, with a live dot for each one that's responding normally. If a network is slow or behind, BESC Wallet automatically switches to a healthy backup node where one is available. See Node settings.

BESC Wallet is self-custody software. You alone control your keys and recovery phrase.
