Back up, export, remove

Your backup is your recovery phrase

The recovery phrase you wrote down when you created the wallet is your backup. With it you can restore the wallet in BESC Wallet, or any standard wallet app, on any phone.

Keep it:

  • On paper or metal, somewhere safe from fire and water
  • Offline: never in screenshots, email, chat or cloud notes
  • Private: nobody else should ever see it, including BESC support

View or export your recovery phrase

Settings → Wallets & networks → Export recovery phrase, or Tools → Wallets → ⋮ → Export Recovery Phrase.

You'll see a warning first: anyone who gets this seed phrase can take every asset controlled by this wallet. Only continue on a trusted device, in private.

Export a private key

Tools → Wallets → ⋮ → Export Private Key. A private key controls a single wallet; treat it exactly like cash. Use this to move one wallet into another app. Wallets imported by private key have no recovery phrase, so the private key is their backup.

Rename a wallet

Tools → Wallets → ⋮ → Rename Wallet. The name only lives on your phone.

Remove a wallet from this phone

Tools → Wallets → ⋮ → Remove From Device.

Removing doesn't delete the wallet, but your backup becomes the only way back

The wallet and its funds stay on the blockchain. But once it's off your phone, you can only get it back with its recovery phrase or private key. Make sure you have them before you remove it.

Reset everything on this phone

Settings → Danger zone → Reset wallet on this device removes all local wallets, tokens and custom networks. Use it when you're giving away or selling your phone, after checking you have every recovery phrase.

Moving to a new phone

  1. Install BESC Wallet on the new phone.
  2. Choose Import recovery phrase (or Private key) and restore each wallet.
  3. Set up your app lock again.

BESC never copies your wallets between phones for you, so plan on restoring from your recovery phrase. It's the one backup that always works.

BESC Wallet is self-custody software. You alone control your keys and recovery phrase.
