Import or watch a wallet
Already have crypto in another wallet such as MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Phantom or SafePal? You can bring it into BESC Wallet with your recovery phrase or a private key, or simply watch an address.
Importing doesn't move any funds. Your wallet lives on the blockchain, and BESC Wallet just gets the key to use it, the same way your old app does. Existing wallets on your phone are kept.
Where to start
- On first launch: tap Import recovery phrase, Private key or Watch wallet on the welcome screen. After you choose Basic or Pro mode, Wallet Tools opens with the right form already selected.
- Any time later: tap Tools on the Home screen, open the Add tab, and pick Seed phrase, Private key or Watch only.
Every field that takes an address, key or phrase has a Paste button.
Recovery phrase
- Choose Seed phrase ("Restore 12 or 24 words").
- Choose a network. This is the network the app opens on afterwards.
- Enter the recovery phrase: paste or type the full phrase exactly as it was backed up, with words separated by spaces. Pasted phrases with line breaks or double spaces are tidied up automatically.
- Name and restore: give it a name and tap Restore Wallet.
BESC Wallet checks the phrase is a valid recovery phrase (a standard BIP-39 phrase of 12 to 24 words). An invalid word or checksum is rejected before anything is saved.
One import, every network
After the phrase is restored on the network you chose, BESC Wallet derives the same phrase's wallet on every other network family (EVM, Solana, Bitcoin, Tron, Cosmos Hub, Sui, Aptos and XRP Ledger), under the same name. When it's done you'll see Recovery phrase imported on every network. Networks that already have a wallet from this phrase on your phone are skipped, so nothing is duplicated.
If one network couldn't be set up, the others still work; switch to it and tap Add [network] From Recovery Phrase. See Networks and wallets.
Bitcoin from another wallet app
Bitcoin wallets restored from a phrase check native SegWit, Taproot, nested SegWit and legacy addresses, on receiving and change chains, so funds your old app kept at other address types or later addresses are found. See Bitcoin: every address type.
Will I get the same address as my old app?
BESC Wallet derives the first account of each network using the standard path most wallets use:
| Network | Derivation path | Address type |
|---|---|---|
| EVM networks | m/44'/60'/0'/0/0 | 0x… (same as MetaMask's first account) |
| Solana | m/44'/501'/0'/0' | Base58 (same as Phantom's first account) |
| Bitcoin | m/84'/0'/0'/0/0 | Native SegWit bc1q… |
| Tron | m/44'/195'/0'/0/0 | T… |
| Cosmos Hub | m/44'/118'/0'/0/0 | cosmos1… |
| Aptos | m/44'/637'/0'/0'/0' | 0x… |
| Sui | m/44'/784'/0'/0'/0' | 0x… |
| XRP Ledger | m/44'/144'/0'/0/0 | r… |
Using a second or third account from your old wallet?
BESC Wallet restores the first account of a phrase. To bring in another account, export that account's private key from your old wallet and import it instead.
Private key
- Choose Private key ("From another wallet app").
- Choose a network.
- Paste the private key. The accepted format depends on the network:
| Network | Accepted private key format |
|---|---|
| EVM networks, Tron, Cosmos | Hex private key |
| Solana | Base58, base64, JSON byte array, or hex |
| Bitcoin | WIF or raw 32-byte hex |
| Aptos, Sui | 32-byte hex private key |
| XRP Ledger | XRPL prefixed hex private key |
- Name and import, then tap Import Wallet.
After a successful import you're taken straight to the Home screen with the new wallet selected.
A private key belongs to one network family, so a wallet imported this way only appears there (a hex EVM key, for example, works on all eight EVM networks but not on Solana). Only recovery phrases are set up on every network.
WARNING
A private key is just as powerful as a recovery phrase. Only paste it on a device you trust, and never share it.
Watch-only
A watch-only wallet lets you follow any address's balances without a key. It can't send, sign or swap.
- Choose Watch only ("Track any address").
- Choose a network.
- Enter the wallet address. Use the public address only; this mode never asks for keys.
- Name and add, then tap Add Watch-Only Wallet.
Good uses: keeping an eye on a cold-storage address, a business wallet, or a wallet you're about to fund.
Adding a wallet that's already here
If you add an address that's already on your device, BESC Wallet switches to the existing wallet instead of making a duplicate.
