Staying safe
Most crypto losses come from scams, not hacks. These habits protect you.
Your recovery phrase
- Never share it. Not with support, not with "validators", not with anyone. BESC will never ask for it.
- Never type it into a website or a form. The only place it belongs is the BESC Wallet import screen, when you are restoring a wallet.
- Keep it offline, on paper or metal, somewhere safe.
Common scams
| Scam | How it works | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Fake support | Someone in a chat or DM offers to "fix" your wallet and asks for your phrase, or for you to connect to a site | Ignore. Real help is listed under Get support. |
| Fake airdrops | Unknown tokens appear in your wallet with a link to "claim" | Don't interact. Hide the token. |
| Approval drainers | A site asks you to approve a token or sign typed data, then empties that token | Only approve on sites you trust; revoke old approvals |
| Look-alike tokens | A scam token copies a real name and logo | Add tokens by contract address from official sources only |
| Address poisoning | A tiny transfer from an address that looks like one you use, hoping you copy it later | Check the whole address, not just the start and end. Use the Address Book. |
| Fake apps | Copycat wallet apps steal phrases | Install only from the official store links |
